Our plan is to take a boat ride on Lake Tana and visit the Ura Kidane Mihret monastery, which is located on the Zege peninsula. The monastery is renowned for its sublime wall murals and round, grass-roofed buildings from the 14th century, called Azoa Mariam and Ura Kidane Mihret. Its round walls covered in mud plaster and its conical thatched roof is typical of old Ethiopian Orthodox churches. The monastery is tucked away amid the Zege Peninsula's mangrove surroundings. Particularly well-known are Ura's excellent manuscripts, frescoes, and religious artifacts, which include silver drums, gold and silver processional crosses, royal garments, and the crowns of several emperors from the fourteenth century. During our journey through the densely forested area, we expect to see a variety of birds and monkeys. You may also be able to spot other wildlife, including hippos, on the lake.

Day 7: Full Day in Lalibela
We will go to the eleven well-known Lalibela rock-hewn churches, which are referred to be the "eighth wonder of the world." The churches at Lalibela are literally cut out of the rock on which they are standing. In terms of size, craftsmanship, and concept, these imposing structures appear to be the product of superhuman creativity. While some are connected by lengthy subterranean tunnels and mazes, others are sculpted out of solid volcanic rock. Some are caves enlarged by excavations.
The first six churches—Bet Golgotha, Bet Mikeal, Bet Mariam, Bet Maskel, Bet Dangal, and Bet Medhanealem—are arranged in a series of rock cradles, one behind the other. The world's largest rock-hewn church, Bet Medhanealem, is constructed like a Greek temple.
Our tour to the second set of churches situated south of the Jordan River will take place following lunch. The quartet of churches consisting of Bet Gabriel Rafael,Bet, Bet Mercurios Emanuel and Bet Aba Libanos. Bet Emanuel (house of Emanuel) is situated south of the symbolic river Jorda. International art historians have bestowed praise upon Bet Emanuel's elaborate façade.
Post card motive church of St. George: Through a tunnel, one can access Bet Giyorgis, which is situated on a sloping rock terrace to the southwest of the village and is relatively isolated.

After noon:
We will visit Yirmahne Kristos, a mysterious 11th-century cave church, after lunch. It will take us two hours (42 km) each way to drive through the picturesque scenery and nearby communities.
Accommodation: Hotel, Lalibela
Day 9: Lalibela – Addis Ababa (flight) – Departure

The first group consists of six churches, arranged in cradles: Bet Golgotha, Bet Mikeal, Bet Mariam, Bet Maskel, Bet Dangal, and Bet Medhanealem. The world's largest rock-cut church, Bet Medhanealem, resembles a Greek temple as it is being built. We will visit the second set of churches south of the Jordan River after lunch. One of the most superb churches in Lalibela, Bet Giyorgis, is also included in the second group. Situated on a sloping rocky terrace in the southwest section of the village, Bet Giyorgis is relatively remote and accessible only by tunnel.
